Upload an Excel file and click 'Convert' to get CSV output.
This tool supports both modern and legacy Excel formats:
Simply upload your Excel file and the tool will automatically detect the format and convert it to CSV.
If your Excel file contains multiple sheets, you'll see a dropdown menu to select which sheet to convert. By default, the first sheet is selected.
For files with only one sheet, the conversion happens automatically without needing to select anything.
The converter preserves your Excel data structure. The first row becomes the CSV headers, and each subsequent row is converted to a comma-separated line. For example, if your Excel sheet looks like:
| Software | Company | Platform | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Excel | Microsoft | Desktop/Web | Paid |
| Google Sheets | Web | Free | |
| LibreOffice Calc | TDF | Desktop | Free |
The CSV output will be:
Software,Company,Platform,Price Excel,Microsoft,Desktop/Web,Paid Google Sheets,Google,Web,Free LibreOffice Calc,TDF,Desktop,Free
Note: By default, the CSV output is displayed as a table for easier reading. Click the 'Raw' button to view the comma-separated format.
Empty cells in your Excel file are preserved as empty values in the CSV output. For example:
| Software | Company | Max Rows |
|---|---|---|
| Numbers | Apple | |
| Zoho Sheet | 65536 | |
| Excel | Microsoft | 1048576 |
is converted to
Software,Company,Max Rows Numbers,Apple, Zoho Sheet,,65536 Excel,Microsoft,1048576
The converter handles special characters and CSV formatting automatically:
